Boycott chicken has become the top trend on Twitter in Pakistan after chicken prices reached a record high of Rs 500 per kilo in some parts of the metropolitan city.

In Karachi, the price of chicken for live birds was Rs370 per kg while Rs500 per kg for meat.

Moreover, Consumers have expressed concerns about this price increase. Citizens also raised questions about the performance of price monitoring committees.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, chicken meat is being sold at Rs365/kg and Rs400/kg in Islamabad.

However, Explaining the reason for the sudden increase in the price of chicken, a retailer in Karachi said the cost of poultry products, including feedstock, rose rapidly.

Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan also dissolved the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) market committees to control rising inflation in the country.

The Prime Minister decided while presiding over a meeting on the price control of essential items here in Islamabad.

However, During the meeting, the prime minister decided to dissolve the Punjab and KPK market committees after receiving several complaints of lack of governance and corruption.

Sources before the matter said the prime minister at the meeting also promised that his government would bring in a new system that will reduce basic commodity prices by taking practical steps.
