Challenge to Ban on Imran Khan’s Speech in Lahore High Court

Fawad Chaudhry, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, has revealed that the Lahore High Court has received a challenge to the ban imposed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Imran Khan’s speeches.

Chaudhry believes that the government’s actions stem from panic rather than a genuine focus on addressing people’s problems, as they are only focused on arresting Imran Khan.

The PEMRA ban, which went into effect yesterday, prohibits the recording or live broadcasting of any statement or conversation made by former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

This ban was imposed under Section 27 of the Prohibition Act due to Imran Khan’s continuous baseless accusations against government institutions, which are spreading hatred and creating a potentially dangerous situation.

PEMRA’s notification states that Imran Khan’s speeches are provocative and may worsen the police situation, as he continues to make baseless allegations and hateful comments against government institutions and officers.
