According to the recommendations made at a meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) presided over by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, a project worth Rs20.17 billion has been forwarded for further consideration to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec).
During the meeting, a project related to transportation and communications, titled “Construction of Infrastructure (Flyover/Underpass Structure for Elimination of Level Crossings from the Loop Section of Karachi Circular Railways,” with a total estimated cost of Rs20.715 billion, was presented and recommended to the Ecnec for further review.
The proposed structures will assist in the elimination of 22 level crossings placed along the KCR loop from Drigh Road to Karachi City Station, as well as making it a more dependable method of public transportation overall.

The deputy chairman of the Planning Commission urged all necessary officials to guarantee that the projects were completed within the specified time frames, stating that the project was critical to the socio-economic well-being of the inhabitants of Karachi.
In the meeting, there were senior officials from the Planning Commission and federal ministries/divisions, as well as representatives from provincial governments who participated through videoconferences.
