Canadian Muslim family killed in a deliberate vehicle attack. Family consisted of two women, aged 74 and 44, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl. A nine-year-old boy has hospitalized with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The attack took place in the city of London, Ontario and victims had targeted because they were Muslims.
A 2016 census found that London, a city about 200 km southwest of Toronto is becoming more diverse. One in five people was born outside of Canada and Arabs being the largest minority in the region and South Asians nearby. Moreover, targetted family belonged to Pakistan.
The attack was the worst against Canadian Muslim family when six persons killed at a mosque in Quebec city in 2017. Police named the suspect assailant Nathanial Veltman, aged 20, from London, Ontario. He has arrested without incident at a mall about 6 km from the crime scene. The suspect was wearing a vest that appeared like a bulletproof vest.
A witness told media that she had to protect her daughter’s eyes from the bodies. Another witness told that the scene was “just chaos”. The flags outside London City Hall to be lowered for three days of mourning of victims.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on Twitter that he has horrified by the news. We are here for you for the relatives of those who had terrorized by yesterday’s hate act.
The Prime Minister of Ontario paid tribute to the victims and wrote on Twitter that Hate and Islamophobia has no place in any place of Ontario.
London Mayor said, it was a mass murder of Muslims and has rooted in unspeakable hatred. He was speaking on behalf of all Londoners and our hearts have broken.
A London Muslim community representative, told police at a news conference that these are innocent people who had killed simply because they were Muslims. Hate will never overshadow the light of love. We shall be strong against Islamophobia. We shall also fight terrorism with faith, love and justice.
Some other incidents also happened against Muslims in Canada
This is not the first time members of the Muslim community in Canada have been attacked. Canada’s deadliest attack occurred in 2018 when a guy drove his van into a group of pedestrians in Toronto and killed 10 people. Moreover, A Canadian killed six Muslims and injured five others at the Islamic Cultural Center in Quebec.
