Boxer Lauren Price was delighted with a birthday cake from Prince William. The Duke of Cambridge interviewed Team GB with the aim that he might celebrate their 27th birthday at the Kensington Palace in the light of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as well as wish her luck in the next tournament.
The cake was in the style of a boxing ring, with the words “Happy 27th Birthday Lauren + good Luck” and two guitars fashioned from red marzipan!
“I hope that tastes well, but you can take it, you don’t have to eat it right now!” William smiled and said.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Lauren told the Prince William : “Since I was eight I was going to the Olympic Games, I had a dream. I remember sitting in my living area watching the Olympics and seeing Kelly Holmes win gold with my Nan and Grandad, and I didn’t know what sport I wanted.”
