Bill Gates and COAS Bajwa discuss the polio issue in Pakistan

A telephone call between the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, took place on Saturday.

During a phone conversation with COAS Bajwa, Bill Gates expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s accomplishment against COVID-19 despite the country’s limited resources. He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its assistance in the national polio campaign and for ensuring that it reached and covered all areas.

During the conversation, topics such as Pakistan’s commitment to comprehensive polio eradication and the COVID-19 virus were discussed.

The success, according to the army chief, was due to a truly national response, which was carried out through the NCOC mechanism, which allowed for resource optimization.

“It was a national cause, and I want to express my gratitude to everyone who was involved in the process,” the COAS stated.
