Avatar: The Way of Water opens on December 16. The third and final trailer offers new glimpses of Cameron’s return to Pandora.
Cameron revealed that Avatar 2 was highly expensive. The 68-year-old director told GQ, “Very [explicitly] pricey.”
The filmmaker didn’t disclose an exact amount but made a funny analogy.
Cameron told executives at Disney and 20th Century Fox that the budget for his sequel was “the worst business case in the history of movies.”
He said, “You’re the third or fourth highest-grossing film ever.” Your limit. “You’re even.”
Variety reports that 2009’s Avatar is the highest-grossing film ever.
Cameron’s GQ interview came out the same day as the final trailer, a month before the film’s premiere.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaa, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang star in Avatar 2: The Way of Water.
