The Minister for Planning and the head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), Asad Umar, urged the public to strictly comply with the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOP) against Covid-19 and warned of tough decisions if the coronavirus situation did not improve.
Asad Umar, briefing the media after meeting with the NCOC on Saturday, said the situation had been exacerbated by the spread of the virus, and people now needed to take a serious stance on SOPs.
The minister said the third wave of Covid-19 was spreading across the country very quickly and positive cases were increasing rapidly.
He said that in the last five days the percentage of positives had increased many times, adding, “We have to fight this disease together and monitor all SEN.

Assad Umar called on the clerics, media, and government to do their part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. He said 2,842 patients were ventilated and the situation could be more serious than last June.
Asad Umar said the number of critical patients had increased rapidly in the past 12 days. If the trend continues, the situation could spiral out of control, the minister warned.
The Planning Minister said the government making every effort to save people’s lives. He said restrictions were increased two weeks ago due to the worsening coronavirus situation in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the capital Islamabad.
Asad Umar said the pandemic had spread rapidly not only in Pakistan but around the world – especially in neighboring countries such as India and Bangladesh.
