Federal Planning Minister Assad Umar questioned Britain’s decision to put Pakistan on the “Red List” on Saturday.

“Every country has the right to make decisions to protect the health of its citizens,” Umar said in a tweet a day after Britain listed Pakistan on its travel ban list.

The minister said the recent decision by the Boris Johnson-led government to re-list several countries, including Pakistan, due to increasing COVID-19 cases, “raises the legitimate question of whether the country’s choice will depend on science or foreign policy.”

On Friday, British High Commissioner for Pakistan Christian Turner announced that Britain had listed Pakistan on a red list of prohibited travel countries.

“The Red List means that only British and Irish citizens, as well as those with British residency rights, are allowed to travel to the UK if they have been to Pakistan within 10 days of their arrival,” Turner said in a video message. posted on Twitter.

The commissioner said passengers planning to travel to the UK from Pakistan must pay for a mandatory quarantine stay at a hotel in the UK.
