AMD’s Next-Gen Ryzen 7000 CPUs Launch for $299

AMD’s Next-Gen Ryzen 7000 desktop processors are now available. Even though some details about AMD’s Next-Gen Ryzen 7000 processors became leaked earlier this month, the company has now officially announced the chips’ full specs, pricing, and release date.

The company has made four different models, including the entry-level Ryzen 5 7600X. The standard Ryzen 7 7700X, the powerful Ryzen 9 7900X, and the best Ryzen 9 7950X. These CPUs use TSMC’s 5nm manufacturing process and AMD’s Zen 4 architecture.

Improvements

The CPU’s IPC, or the number of instructions it can run in one cycle, has increased by 13%. But most improvements come from speeding up the clock and using more power. AMD says that single-threaded performance is up 29%, multi-threaded performance is up 35%, and performance per watt is up 25% compared to Zen 3 processors.

Also, Zen 4 CPUs are much more energy-efficient than Zen 3 CPUs, using up to 62% less power while delivering 49% more performance under the same conditions. Because it uses 5nm technology, the CPU takes up 50% less space than competing Intel processors (10nmESF Alder Lake) and uses 47% less energy.

Specifications

Here are the technical details about each of the new Ryzen 7000 processors. Ryzen’s top model, the Ryzen 9 7950X, has the same 16 cores and 32 threads as the previous two versions. It has a base frequency of 4.5GHz that can increase to 5.7GHz, 80MB of cache, and a thermal design power (TDP) of 170W.

The base Ryzen 5 7600X has a TDP of 105W, up from the previous version’s 65W, and it has 6 cores, 12 threads, and 38MB of cache. It will run at a base frequency of 4.7 GHz and is sped up to 5.3 GHz when needed. In the graphic below, you can see the features and prices of each processor.

The next graph shows how its gameplay and content creation compare to the previous generation. Before any final conclusions can be made, real-world performance tests are always done. You must wait until October to get your hands on one of them.

Price and Availability

The following prices will be available for these Ryzen 7000 processors starting September 27.

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is $699
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is $549
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is $399
