Amazon Fires Thousands of Workers Amid Tech Industry Layoffs

In the tech industry, thousands of workers lost their jobs in the last week, and Amazon is the latest company to do the same. Working for a digital company is still not riskier than it is now.

The New York Times said that the online store (Amazon) plans to let go of a lot of corporate and tech industry workers. did  Sources quote in the story say that Amazon could lay off up to 10,000 workers?

There will be layoffs at Amazon, but right now we don’t know how many. Retail, Human Resources, and the devices unit, which makes Alexa, the company’s popular speech assistant, will all be most victims. Sources who didn’t want to be named said that the layoffs will happen gradually as each department finishes its current work.

Around 10,000 people would make up less than 1% of Amazon’s current global network of more than 1.5 million employees. Most of this amount comes from people who do pa by the hour.

As of December 31, 2017, Amazon has some 1,608,000 full-time and part-time employees. However, this number could drop by a large amount in the near future. We still haven’t heard back from Amazon.

This news comes right before the busy holiday season in many western countries when Amazon. Other retail giants need as many workers as they can get to handle the rush of customers. This shows how bad things can get for businesses when the economy as a whole goes down. After years of having too many workers and not getting enough done, Amazon is now trying to streamline its operations.

If this is true, Amazon would lay off a lot of people, just like other tech giants like Meta, Spotify, Twitter, and others.
