First Amazon Facilitation Center will be Set up in Multan

The Pakistan Post is to open the first Amazon Fulfilment and Facilitation Center (AFFC) in southern Punjab in Multan after Eidul Azha. The setup will provide local artisanal and cultural products with access to the international market.

Commerce Advisor Abdul Razaq Dawood stated one and a half months ago that e-commerce giant Amazon has included Pakistan in its list of vendors. As a result of the advancement, Pakistani enterprises are now able to sell on the site. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as young and female entrepreneurs, would have several chances to connect with the worldwide market via the Amazon platform.

The platform offers Amazon’s 3P (third-party relationship) model, where retailers sell directly to buyers through the marketplace that serves brand owners. The market serves as a retailer under Amazon’s 1P model, while a brand serves as a wholesale supplier for mass manufacturers that wish to make Amazon-branded products.

Post-Master General (PMG) Zulfiqar Husnain stated, “Most of the work on the AFFC at the General Post Office Dera Adda has been done, and it will be operational after Eidul Azha.” Moreover, an Amazon warehouse would also be established at GPO Multan. Work was also on to establish Amazon distribution centers with warehouses in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, and other districts in south Punjab,” he added.

Mr. Husnain believes that Pakistan Post, MCCI, and Amazon should work together to boost economic growth in the SME sector. “We would give the business community cutting-edge amenities. The craftsmen will be able to advertise their items on a global scale by registering them on Amazon”, he continued.
