39 Omicron Cases Reported in Sindh in Two Days

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced on Monday that 39 new cases of the Omicron form of Covid-19 had been reported after 53 samples were analyzed during the previous two days, bringing the total number of cases of the new variation in the province to 367, according to Shah.

On top of all that, he stated that 940 new cases of Covid-19 were identified during 13,757 tests conducted during the previous 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 6.8 percent. Shah also stated that another patient died as a result of the pandemic virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 7,682.


The chief minister, in announcing the Omicron instances report, stated that 53 tests were undertaken over the course of two days, resulting in the discovery of 39 new cases of the Omicron variant.

According to the statement, 799 new cases have been identified in Karachi, including 350 from the South, 275 from the East, 115 from the Central, 45 from Korangi, 35 from Malir, and 24 from the West districts.


In addition to the city of Karachi, Hyderabad has 27 members, Thatta 15, Jamshoro 11, Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad 10, Larkana eight, Badin and Kamber seven each, Sanghar six, Umerkot five, Jacobabad, Sujawal, Shikarpur, and Nausheroferoze four members each, Ghotki, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas three members

According to the chief minister, a total of 7,270,087 tests have been performed, with 487,290 cases having been identified as a result. The chief minister went on to say that 96.2 percent of them, or 468,922 people, have recovered, with 96 individuals recovering overnight.

He stated that there are presently 10,686 individuals undergoing treatment, with 10,410 of them being in home isolation, 120 being in isolation centers, and 156 being in separate hospitals. The status of 150 patients was considered crucial, and 17 of them were placed on ventilators, according to the hospital’s spokesperson.

Shah shared vaccination statistics with the press, stating that 30,618,044 vaccines had been administered as of January 8 and that 135,151 residents had been vaccinated in the previous 24 hours.

Approximately 30,753,195 vaccines have been administered in Sindh, which accounts for 55.67 percent of the eligible population, according to the official figures. In an appeal to the public, the chief minister encouraged them to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
