382 kg of ‘ice’ collected in a year, claim Peshawar cops

During the current year, the Peshawar police have collected 382 kilogrammes of “ice” (methamphetamine) and detained over 1200 drug dealers.

Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan told reporters Monday that the police are targeting the narcotics cartel. This year, police apprehended roughly 1200 narcotics dealers, an official claimed.

The officers seized 382 KG ice, 3343 KG hashish, 425 KG heroin, and 341 KG opium. An official stated street offenders, those participating in festive firing, and other social offences are being targeted.

Peshawar, Khyber and other regions were raided after allegations of increased drug sales and smuggling across the country. In July, Special Narcotics Eradication Teams were formed to target the big fish. The teams would report daily to the district drug mafia.

All district police chiefs were instructed to nominate upright, committed, and fearless officers as NET leaders. Ice and other drug use has surged in recent years.
