In a complaint lodged with the Prime Minister’s assistant, Shahzad Akbar, PTI MPA Nazir Chohan was detained in Lahore on Wednesday by the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA).
Tomorrow the FIA will transport Chohan and bring him before the Court of Justice Yousuf Abdul Rehman (Thursday).
Today’s arrest comes the day after Mirza Shahzad Akbar, Premier Minister on Home Affairs and Responsibility, has been detained by the police from the Lahore Development Authority office for a different charge. The MPA was scheduled to be transferred to an FIA cybercrime unit, but a judicial magistrate was given a bail later that day.
Tuesday, on the basis of Akbar’s complaint — registered in May — under Articles 506 (criminal intimidation), 189 (threat of injury to a servant), 298 (declarations deliberate intention to injure religious feelings), and 153 (causing riot) of the Pakistan Criminal Code Chohan was taken prisoner by the PTI, which is a member of the stranged Jahangir Khan Tareen Group (PPC).
