Prime Minister Imran Khan raised the possibility of the Australian cricket team visiting Pakistan during a telephone conversation with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Prime Minister Khan urged Australia to visit Pakistan as soon as the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic improves. He also invited his Australian colleague to quickly visit Pakistan.

“With a better situation on the ground, cricket could also resume between the two sides as the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic improves,” the prime minister said.

Imran Khan added that bilateral relations between the two countries should resume once the situation improves in both countries. Australia last visited the country in 1998, but Pakistan welcomed Australia to the United Arab Emirates and England after 2009.

PCB has made efforts to convince major testing countries to visit Pakistan. According to PCB CEO Wasim Khan, Pakistan will host South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia for the next two years.

South Africa is likely to visit Pakistan in January for a limited series, while England is also reportedly looking to Pakistan for a three-game T20I series in January 2021.

PCB has been in constant consultation with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on this matter. Pakistan recently visited England amid the Covid-19 pandemic and now the PCB wants the ECB to return the favor by sending their cricket team on a short tour.
