Former Pakistani off-roader Shahid Afridi has announced that he will run a cricket academy in Gulberg, Karachi. Afridi made his decision known to the enthusiasm of children and fans during his visit to the TMC cricket ground in Gulberg, Karachi.
Earlier, Afridi had expressed a desire to coach under-16 and under-14 players instead of working with top players. He said it is much better to educate younger children because they have the desire and ability to learn, and if they listen to experiences, they stay with them for longer.
I am very happy today, the ground I stand on is where I learned cricket, on this ground I started playing cricket and it prepared me to become a better cricket player.
He added that he was trained by coaches from the same academy, adding that he was grateful to be with them today. Boom Boom Afridi has said he plans to set up and run a cricket academy himself. Afridi said he will be coming to the field soon to play an evening game with the local teams.
Afridi was in a lengthy dispute with the government of Sindh over land for a cricket academy. It was settled almost 3 years ago and Afridi finally announced his decision to set up a youth cricket academy.
