$100,000 transferred to Priyantha Kumara Family: Shahbaz Gill

According to Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on political communication, a sum of US$100,000 and the $1,667 monthly salary of Sri Lankan national Priyantha Kumara, who was lynched by a mob in Sialkot, have been transferred into the account of his widow, who is a Pakistani national.

Rajco Industries has committed funds in the amount of $100,000 USD and the first salary in the amount of $1,667 USD for the next ten years, according to the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan. “These funds and the first salary have been transferred to the Sri Lankan bank account of the widow of Mr. Priyanatha Khumara, who passed away recently,” he wrote on Twitter.


An angry mob of workers lynched Priyantha Kumara, a 49-year-old Sri Lankan national, on December 3, when he was working as a manager at a factory where he was employed.

Following the completion of their 14-day physical remand period, 85 suspects in the Sialkot lynching case were brought before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) earlier today.

Stringent security measures were implemented, including the deployment of significant contingents of police outside the ATC headquarters in Gujranwala and along the Sialkot Road, among other locations. With its acceptance of  IO’s plea, the court extended the physical detention of 79 suspects for another 14 days and ordered him to present them before the next hearing, scheduled for January 31.
